We are WE CARE, a community-based organization (CBO) committed to fostering inclusive and sustainable solutions for marginalized communities in Northern Kenya. Our mission is to empower vulnerable groups, including children with disabilities, while also addressing critical challenges like drought and harmful practices such as Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). Through education, advocacy, and economic empowerment, we strive to create opportunities for those who are often overlooked, enabling them to lead self-reliant, fulfilling lives. At WE CARE, we believe in the power of community-driven interventions. By partnering with local stakeholders and organizations, we work to break down societal barriers and offer tailored support where it’s needed most. From ensuring children with disabilities can access education to supporting families impacted by drought and advocating for the rights of girls at risk of FGM, our initiatives are designed to uplift and strengthen the communities we serve, fostering resilience and long-term change.
We are committed to empowering marginalized communities by providing access to education, advocacy, and economic opportunities. Our focus is on addressing disabilities, drought, and harmful cultural practices like FGM. With community-driven solutions, we aim to uplift our society.
We envision a resilient and inclusive society where every individual, regardless of their challenges, can thrive and contribute. Our goal is to eliminate barriers to education, economic stability, and social equality. We aspire to create a future where all community members can lead fulfilling, empowered lives.
We believe in inclusivity, ensuring equal opportunities for all, regardless of their background or circumstances. Collaboration is at the core of our work, partnering with stakeholders to drive meaningful change. Sustainability guides our actions, as we focus on creating long-lasting impacts for future generations.
WeCare CBO has successfully facilitated the enrollment of 50 pupils at Kambi ya Juu Integrated School. This group includes 20 students from Marsabit County and 30 from Isiolo County. We are proud to report that each of these students has completed the term successfully.
Furthermore, our team has identified an additional 70 children in both Isiolo and Marsabit counties who are still awaiting enrollment. These children, aged 5 to 13 years, are either completely blind or partially sighted. WeCare CBO is committed to supporting their educational journey and ensuring they receive the care and resources they need.
The total project budget is Ksh 6,690,000, allocated to support the education and well-being of children with disabilities, particularly those with visual impairments. It covers school fees, boarding essentials, Braille machines, and advocacy efforts for disability inclusion. This funding ensures both immediate support and long-term sustainability for the children and their families.
We Care Kenya(CBO) is grateful for the generous donations we have received to support those in need. The Red Cross has kindly donated 100 bedsheets and 210 pairs of shoes, providing essential comfort and support to many. Additionally, we extend our heartfelt appreciation to Dalach Doyo Jaldesa for their contribution of 21 buckets, 5 sachets of tissue paper, 4 toothbrushes, and 4 tubes of Colgate (big toothbrush). These donations will go a long way in improving the well-being of our community members, and we sincerely thank our donors for their kindness and generosity.
We Care Kenya CBO recently made a generous donation of 10 desks to Kambi Ya Juu Integrated Primary School, specifically benefiting the visually impaired pupils at the institution. This initiative aligns with the organization’s ongoing commitment to promoting inclusive education and creating a more supportive learning environment for children with special needs. The desks are designed to enhance comfort and accessibility, enabling the pupils to focus better and participate more actively in their studies.
The official handover of the desks was conducted by Amos Wako, the Founder and Chairman of We Care Kenya CBO. During the event, he emphasized the CBO’s dedication to empowering marginalized groups through practical support and community-driven initiatives. The school administration, teachers, and pupils expressed heartfelt gratitude for the timely contribution, which they described as a significant step toward equal learning opportunities for all.
