Equal access and opportunities for all
Founded in 2020, WE CARE is a community-based organization (CBO) located in Isiolo, Northern Kenya. Our establishment arose from the need to address the significant barriers faced by persons with disabilities and other marginalized groups in the region. Recognizing the challenges posed by deep-rooted cultural beliefs, economic hardships, and a lack of awareness about disability rights, we committed ourselves to advocating for inclusivity and empowerment within our communities. Our dedicated team consists of individuals who have personally navigated these challenges, allowing us to lead with empathy and understanding.
Our mission is to empower vulnerable individuals by providing access to education, economic opportunities, and advocacy services. We envision a resilient society where every person, regardless of their challenges, can thrive and contribute meaningfully. Our projects focus on facilitating educational access for children with disabilities, promoting community awareness about disability rights, and addressing critical issues such as drought and harmful cultural practices like FGM. By prioritizing these initiatives, we aim to foster an environment where every individual can achieve self-reliance and fulfillment.
We are proud to collaborate with various partners to amplify our impact, including the Horn of Africa Institute, which supports our funding and community sensitization efforts, and the Red Cross Society of Kenya, which has provided essential supplies to support our projects. Through these partnerships, we have been able to successfully enroll children in schools, conduct community advocacy programs, and create sustainable solutions that address the needs of families facing economic hardships. Together, we strive to break down barriers and uplift our communities, ensuring that no one is left behind.
